My work is meant to artfully capture the magic of childhood, and joys that is family. My sessions are meant to be an experience. A portrait experience to capture your story, at a moment in time that is most genuine, heartfelt and unforgetable. As a lifestyle photographer I work to capture life’s moments: Tight embraces holding on to those fleeting moments, uncontrollable laughter, dirty feet and painted hands, lazy Sundays in PJs, making pancakes, snuggles in bed, sipping coffee and dance parties are just the beginning of possibilities to capture.
That is family. That is life.
It’s this soulful, artful passion that I bring to my family and child sessions – capturing timeless moments meant to be remembered, full of heart, movement and connection.
WHERE WILL MY SESSION BE HELD?
I am a natural light in home or on location photographer. There are SO many options, but don’t worry together we will choose the perfect location for your session. One of my favorite locations is in your home! It always seems to be the place you are most comfortable and I can capture you in your environment and show you just how beautiful your every day is. ; Think about all those snuggles in bed, read your favorite book to your children, play games, pancake breakfasts, jumping on the bed and so much more! I also love adventuring with you! We can explore your favorite parks, splash in the waters, walk barefoot in the sand, walk through the conservatories, or eat ice-cream ! No matter where we are, I use natural light and will be your guide throughout. I strive to capture those moments that unfold naturally.
Newborn sessions are held at your home.
First 48 will be at the hospital.
WHEN DO NEWBORN SESSIONS OCCUR?
I like to do newborn sessions within the first two weeks of life, but I also believe that a newborn session is just as special and important at 4-5 months. Life happens – Particularly when welcoming newborns into the home. We’ll work on your schedule.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
All you need to be is comfortable! You want to feel great in what you wear so be you! I always say coordinate but don’t be matchy matchy. Think about coordinating colors. Start with moms outfit and go from there. It’s best at times to start with neutrals and add one or two colors in from there. Avoid clothing with logos, they can be a distraction. Don’t worry, I am happy to help discuss your outfits prior to the session. For a little inspiration head on over to my Pinterest board ( Family sessions and In-Home Newborn) for ideas. As we collaborate and develop the session ideas please keep in mind two very important rules: 1) be comfortable and 2) be yourself!
WHAT HAPPENS AT THE ACTUAL SESSION?
I will arrive with my camera and a big smile and ask for a tour of your home if it’s an in-home session. Or together we will start exploring our outdoor location. We will chat and go over the details we have discussed prior. I’ll become close friends with your children and then give you a general idea of how the session will go. I have loose guidelines that I follow but that is completely flexible to the needs of the session. Please do not worry if you children have shown up shy, grumpy or nervous. It is completely normal! Families are chaotic and messy and REAL, not perfect. Remember I am a mom of four and I have dealt with it all! So instead of fighting it lets embrace it and capture your family as it is now. I want you to remember your little one tucked behind daddy’s legs sucking her thumb nervously, or the pouty lips of your spunky 5 year old. This is your story, lets tell it as it is now! I give guidance and direction to a point, such as positioning you in the right light , having you look at each other, snuggle, play games ect. but then I just let the interactions happen and unfold naturally to capture. I want to find the beautiful moments within the chaos and show you how much connection you create together. Most sessions take 1.5-2 hours
WILL I GET MY DIGITAL PHOTOS AFTER THE SHOOT?
Yes! You will receive, via a private gallery a minimum of 40, high resolution images. These images will be edited and available for download through the gallery.
The images also come with a print release, ensuring your legal right to print and use the images for personal use. I encourage you to print and share these moments. I’ve found photographs grow in value over time as family treasures. This is particularly true in our digital world, where we don’t often feature treasured moments in the home or office.
CAN YOU MAKE IT EASY FOR ME, CAN YOU PRINT FOR US?
Of course, that’s my goal. I truly believe that these moments remembered are best remembered in print. When ready, you’ll access your images in a private, password protected gallery is where you can order beautiful, and boutique prints and products. The gallery and catalog of memories will be available for you, or family to purchase prints, and download images for a month.
HOW DO YOU CHOOSE WHICH IMAGES IN MY GALLERY FROM OUR SHOOT?
“It’s all in the details!” This is the best, and most agonizing part of the process. I review all the images captured throughout your session and select, and edit the best images to tell your story.
After getting to know you, I’m looking to combine the images and moments that best capture you, and your family and represent me as an artist.
DO YOU DO RETOUCHING?
No, not really. I am not going to whiten your teeth or make you look slimmer. I am going capture you and your family in the best possible light as you are in this moment. I will however remove a child’s runny nose or snack smudged on their cute cheek:)
HOW FAR OUT ARE YOU BOOKED?
I recommend booking two to three months in advance.
If you are interested in the Newborn session, it’s best to inquire while you are pregnant. I know life happens, and do reserve space on my calendar for last minute sessions.
Fresh48 hospital sessions are taken on an extremely limited basis because of the narrow window of time.
DO YOU OFFER MINI-SESSIONS?
No, mini-sessions are not conducive to my style, and likely yours. Mini-sessions don’t allow us to build a story, and shine a light on your family’s personality.
HOW MUCH DOES ALL OF THIS COST?
My pricing is all-inclusive, one price for ALL of the edited, digital files. Sessions are a small part of the time I spend with you, and your images. Typically, the session represents 20-30% of the time invested on your treasured moments.
WHAT IS YOUR POLICY ON RESCHEDULING?
Life happens. I’m a mom of four, and manage a business. I understand if something is unavoidable, we’ll find time to reschedule. Weather can always be a challenge, and we do work to plan around it with an alternative session date for rain and other.
Please remember – Session fees, like the deposit are not refundable.
